Each summer, we co-organize a week-long workshop for mathematicians and teachers from around the country who are interested in leading math enrichment programs. Bob and Ellen Kaplan of the Boston Math Circle demonstrate a collegial approach to teaching that involves children in the exploration of deep mathematical ideas. The Math Circle website has additional information about the Boston Math Circle program.
Several local educators and older students join us each summer. In the afternoon, children of all ages attend Math Circles led by adult participants. The Math Circle Institute is supported by a generous grant from the Herbert O. Wolfe Foundation and is sponsored by the Notre Dame Department of Mathematics and the Northern Indiana Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Consortium.
Here are some articles about the Math Circle Institute written by past participants:
The 2013 Math Circle Institute will be held on the campus of Notre Dame from July 8th through the 12th.
Adults who plan to stay on campus should contact Bob and Ellen Kaplan at firstname.lastname@example.org to apply.
