During two professional development session, we explored ways to help students go beyond memorized procedures to improve their conceptual understanding. The workshop included hands-on activities supporting the development of number sense and the transition to algebraic thinking. We also brought hands-on activities for two Pokagon Band STEM family days. Activities included Chladni plates, quilt fractions, and origami polyhedra.
