Mobile Math Circle -- Orbit-Stabilizer Theorem

Amanda traveled to the University of South Alabama to present to the Mobile Math Circle. Approximately 70 middle school and high school students participated in a hands-on session about the Orbit-Stabilizer Theorem. Students used pipe cleaners to construct cubes and squares with a white or black pony bead at each vertex. We used these objects to investigate the symmetries of each shape, to consider which symmetries fix which colorings, and to ultimately determine how many different colorings are possible.
